Important Notice
Thank you for your ongoing support of the Mareeba Leagues Club.
We are pleased to share an important milestone in our journey. Mareeba Shire Council has voted in favour of selling Lot 13 Doyle Street, (which Mareeba Leagues Club has been leasing for the last 32 years), which comprises land, building, and carpark on Doyle and Riordan Streets—to Mareeba Leagues Club Inc. (does not include Davies Park).
As part of this sale, in conjunction with Council, the Club will enter into a 100-year lease to provide the community (through Council) right of use and access to the grandstand seating, changerooms, and amenities which are critical to the users of Davies Park.
This arrangement ensures long-term certainty for our facilities and demonstrates our unwavering commitment to the Mareeba community.
We sincerely thank Councillors for their vision, and we extend our gratitude to Davies Park stakeholders and users for their ongoing support.
The Leagues Club building, constructed in 1993, is in much need of upgrade. With this decision of Council, we can now move forward with staged improvements to modernise our facilities, enhance the experience for members and guests, and continue supporting local not-for-profit sporting clubs and associations.
Our plans have been on display for nearly two years, and we look forward to bringing them to life in stages over the coming years as funds permit.
The Club will schedule an information session with members in the very near future and will provide these details in due course.
In the meantime, if you have any inquiries, please contact CEO, Lucy Connor at info@mareebaleagues.com.au
With your continued support, the Mareeba Leagues Club will remain a proud home for sport, modern facilities and a place where our community comes together.
Warm regards, Board and Management
Mareeba Leagues Club Inc.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Club Development Plans
Dear members,
As many of you are aware, over the past couple of years Mareeba Leagues Club has been working with industry experts to complete comprehensive planning for infrastructure redevelopments at Davies Park.
The Leagues Club building was first constructed in 1993 and requires some important updates to improve the Club’s offering to members and guests.
These improvements are also necessary to maintain the Club’s financial strength and to enable the Club to continue supporting other local not-for-profit sporting Clubs and associations throughout Mareeba.
Similarly, much of the community sporting infrastructure at Davies Park is outdated and falls short of adequately meeting the needs of the many local young people who call the site their sporting home.
Accordingly, the Club has engaged Paynters to prepare a comprehensive planning and development application package for redevelopment of the Leagues Club. CPR Group has been engaged to prepare a broader master plan for the Davies Park precinct.
In the coming weeks, the Club plans to lodge a development application with Mareeba Shire Council. This is a necessary step to obtaining Council approval to proceed with proposed redevelopments. Importantly, the next step following approval will be to secure external funding support to deliver the works, which will likely be achieved incrementally.
Copies of planning documentation are on display in the Club and available for review. The Mareeba Shire Council Confirmation Notice and Development Application are available on the Council website or at the following links:
For any inquiries please contact CEO Lucy Connor via email manager@mareebaleagues.com.au.
As always, thank you for your valued support of our much-loved club. We look forward to sharing this journey with all members.
